I wouldn't be the tech-centric scientist that I am without mentioning the list of personal electronics I'm bringing down to Antarctica. This list is actually quite short. I don't carry a lot of big-ticket electronics with me (camera gear doesn't count!) because most of the science tech I'm usually associated with (ROV's, cabled ocean observatories, etc...) doesn't count as personal gear.
I may have over packed anti-nausea meds but better safe than sorry...I know my own limits when it comes to sea sickness. Most of these items I already owned. However, I did have to buy most of the base layers new and invest in some backup RX eyewear.
