The standard issue gear consists of three parts of head wear, fives parts of body wear, three parts of leg wear, two pieces of footwear, four parts of mittens, snow goggles, and a large duffle.
As an Antarctic first timer, how does one prepare? How does one pack for a scientific expedition to Antarctica? What gear am I responsible for bringing? I will be following up with a post about mandatory pre-departure requirements (e.g. getting PQed) and a list of personal items I will be bringing on the trip. Stay tuned!
Images and more information on ECW gear can be from at the United States Antarctic Program Website.
